Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 16, 2026
TrackFood ("we", "us", or "our") built the TrackFood app as a free application. This Service is provided by TrackFood, founded by Bankim Barman, and is intended for use as is. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information:
- Account information: Name, email address, and profile details when you register.
- Food & nutrition data: Meals you log, dietary preferences, and nutrition goals.
- Location data: See Section 2 for full details.
- Log data: Device IP address, device name, OS version, app configuration, crash reports, and timestamps — collected via third-party services in case of errors.
- Usage data: How you interact with features of the app.
2. Location Data Updated – Required by Google Play
Our app collects your device's location data for the following purposes:
- To provide personalized food and restaurant recommendations based on your current location.
- To suggest nearby restaurants, food outlets, and delivery options relevant to you.
- To improve the accuracy of regional nutrition and food data shown in the app.
How we handle location data:
- Location is collected only while the app is actively in use (foreground only), unless you have explicitly granted background location permission.
- We collect the minimum location data necessary to provide the above features.
- We do not sell your location data to third parties.
- Location data may be shared with Google Maps API solely to power in-app map features. Google's own privacy policy governs that use.
- You can revoke location permission at any time via your device's Settings → Apps → TrackFood → Permissions.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate, and improve the TrackFood app and its features.
- To personalise food, nutrition, and restaurant recommendations.
- To send important service updates or notifications (you can opt out).
- To diagnose technical issues and fix app errors.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may collect data as per their own privacy policies:
We recommend reviewing each service's privacy policy for details on how they handle your data.
5. Data Retention Updated – Required by Google Play
We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide you with our services.
- Account data (name, email, food logs, nutrition history) is retained until you delete your account.
- Log and crash data is retained for up to 90 days and then automatically purged.
- Location data is not stored persistently — it is used in real-time to generate recommendations and is not logged to our servers.
6. How to Delete Your Data Updated – Required by Google Play
You have the right to request deletion of your personal data at any time. To do so:
- In-app: Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This will permanently delete your account and all associated data.
- By email: Send a deletion request to [email protected] with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". Please include your registered email address.
We will process your deletion request within 30 days. Some data may be retained for a longer period only where required by applicable law (e.g., financial records).
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. However, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
This Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately at [email protected].

Our app may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their policies independently.
